Adoption Procedures

Ready to welcome a new furry friend? Here’s everything you need to know about our adoption process to help you find your perfect companion and give them a loving home!

Step One
After viewing our many animals available for adoption, an adoption form must be completed. The form can be completed online or downloaded for printing. Both options of the form can be accessed by clicking on the  “Apply to adopt now” button near the bottom of this page. We recommend you read through the remaining sections of policies and fees before proceeding with an application.
Based on the information provided in the form, we will contact you and invite you to meet the animal in person at Woodrock Animal Rescue, should this not have already taken place. We ask that you bring your existing dogs for a social. The Adopter must pay a non-refundable Application and Booking fee of R200.
If both parties are happy with the meeting and are happy to proceed, an appointment for a home-check will be made. The inspection will be conducted by a member of our staff or a volunteer.
If the home check passes scrutiny, the adoption papers will be put in order. An appointment will be made for collection of the animal(s). Note: Should you have a Cat/s, Woodrock will comply with a Cat test in alignment with a behaviourist specialist, however, should the interaction at home not be successful, Woodrock will not be held liable.

Upon collection, the total adoption fee is due and payable.

Fees:

Adoption Application and Booking Fee

A R200 non-refundable Adoption and Booking fee is payable on application.

This amount will be deducted from the total Adoption Fee if the application for the adoption is successful, i.e. all requisites have been met. All animals are sterilised (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for fleas and worms before leaving our premises.

Adoption Fees

You agree that should you adopt an unsterilised animal from Woodrock Animal Rescue, you must have the animal sterilised. If the animal is a Puppy, it must be sterilised when it reaches six months. You also need to send Woodrock Animal Rescue proof of sterilisation.

Puppy: R1700 – includes first vaccination, deworming, flea treatment, and microchipping. Should the puppy not be ready for sterilisation at the time of going home, Woodrock will provide a sterilisation certificate to be claimed by one of our affiliated Vets. Proof of sterilisation is to be sent to Woodrock.

Adult: R1500 – includes vaccinations, de-worming, flea treatment, microchipping & sterilisation. If you adopt an additional adult doggo, you will receive a 25% discount on the total.

All animals will be sterilised, micro-chipped, vaccinated, treated for ticks and fleas and dewormed before adoption. A vaccination health record reflecting all related historical information is handed over upon handover to the new owner.
