Adoption Procedures
Ready to welcome a new furry friend? Here’s everything you need to know about our adoption process to help you find your perfect companion and give them a loving home!
Step One
After viewing our many animals available for adoption, an adoption form must be completed.
The form can be completed online or downloaded for printing. Both options of the form can be accessed by clicking on the “Apply to adopt now” button near the bottom of this page. We recommend you read through the remaining sections of policies and fees before proceeding with an application.
Step Two
Based on the information provided in the form, we will contact you and invite you to meet the animal in person at Woodrock Animal Rescue, should this not have already taken place. Should you be adopting an adult dog, we ask that you bring your existing dogs for a social.
The Adopter must pay a non-refundable Application and Booking fee of R200.
Step Three
When adopting a dog or puppy and both parties are happy with the meeting, happy to proceed, an appointment for a home-check will be made. The inspection will be conducted by a member of our staff or a volunteer.
When adopting a cat or kitten, please ensure you have photos and live videos of your home and current animals. A google earth search will be completed by our team, including making contact with a reliable source i.e next of kin, vet, etc.
Step Four
If the home check passes scrutiny, the adoption process will commence. An appointment will be made for collection of the animal(s). With regards to dog adoptions please note: Should you have a Cat/s, Woodrock will comply with a Cat test in alignment with a behaviourist specialist, however, should the interaction at home not be successful, Woodrock will not be held liable.
Step Five
Upon collection, the total adoption fee is due and payable.
Fees:
Adoption Application and Booking Fee
A R200 non-refundable Adoption and Booking fee is payable on application for all adoptions.
This amount will be deducted from the total Adoption Fee if the application for the adoption is successful, i.e. all requisites have been met. All animals are sterilised (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for fleas and worms before leaving our premises.
