Woodrock Microchipping

​Woodrock Animal Rescue PROUDLY microchips any rescue animal that passes through our shelter.  Please ensure that you register the microchip into your name and that you keep the contact details up to date.  Did you now that Woodrock Animal Rescue also offers microchipping of your pets every Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 1pm?  It costs R200 per animal. Please microchip your pets – its the right thing to do! ​

​Instructions: ‘Get Me Known’ Microchip Transfers and New Registrations

Most of the microchips have already been registered in the name of Woodrock Animal Rescue BUT some have not. To determine the status, please go to http://www.getmeknown.co.za and under “Search for Microchip” please insert the 15-digit microchip number. Press “Get microchip information” and you will be advised as to whether the microchip is already registered or not.

If the Microchip Is Already Registered, Continue As Follows:

How To Transfer Your New Pet’s Microchip Into Your Own Name (microchip has previously been registered in the name of Woodrock Animal Rescue)

Head on over to http://www.getmeknown.co.za and click on the “create an account” item (to create an account) or the Login Menu Item (If you already have an account).

  1. When presented with your Profile View, you are given several options. Amongst these are “Request ownership” which you click to Request a Transfer of a microchip from Woodrock Animal Rescue to your name.
  2. Insert the Micro Chip Number in the block provided (ensure it has 15 digits). 
  3. The details of the pet will appear with a button to Make the Request to Woodrock Animal Rescue for approval.
  4. Press the button.
  5. Transfer completed “Request for transfer completed” will be displayed. 
  6. The Pet will then be listed on your profile with a Status of “Pending” (as a transfer request will automatically be emailed to Woodrock Animal Rescue for approval). 
  7. After Woodrock Animal Rescue has approved your request, (please give us 48 hours), your pet will automatically be transferred into your name on your profile.
  8. You can check this by pressing “view certificate” on your profile.

If the Microchip Is Not Already Registered, Continue As Follows:

​How To Register Your New Pet’s Microchip Into Your Name (microchip not previously registered)

In the unlikely event that the microchip has not been previously registered in the name of Woodrock Animal Rescue, continue as follows:
Head on over to http://www.getmeknown.co.za and click on the “create an account” item (to create an account) or the Login Menu Item (If you already have an account).

  1. When presented with your Profile View, you are given several options. Amongst these are “Register microchip” which you click and then insert your 15-digit microchip number.
  2. You will then be presented with a screen to add all the identification data of your pet.
  3. Complete the required information (Important: the fields requesting details of name and registration number of who conducted the microchip procedure are as follows: Woodrock Animal Rescue; Registration number 103-156 NPO).
  4. When the information is completed, you submit the form.
  5. A Certificate screen will be displayed with all the registered information which is confirmation of you having successfully completed the microchip registration.
  6. Download a PDF of the certificate or email it to yourself for record keeping purposes.
